Which municipalities make up Guadalteba?
Seven, listed alphabetically:
- Almargen, Ardales, Campillos, Carratraca
- Cañete la Real, Serrato, Teba
Serrato became a municipality in 2014, separated from Ronda, and is grouped with Guadalteba. Some sources, including the Diputación de Málaga, also place Sierra de Yeguas and Cuevas del Becerro here; following the Junta de Andalucía, we list those two under Antequera and the Serranía de Ronda respectively.
How do we approach a paving job in these villages?
By asking how the space is used before suggesting a surface. A patio where the family eats outside, an entrance used by a car each day and a yard where a tractor or trailer occasionally turns need three different answers, even on the same property.
- Daily car use: concrete block paving on a compacted base, edged with kerbs.
- Heavier or occasional farm vehicles: a stronger build-up, sometimes a concrete base under the paving.
- Occasional parking on land: grass grids or permeable paving, like the wheel tracks in the photo.
- Traditional patios and entrances: natural stone or clay pavers.
If your property is a village house in Teba, Ardales or Cañete la Real, access is the first thing we look at. If it is on land outside Campillos or Almargen, the question is usually how much to pave and where the rainwater should go once the surface is sealed.
Water deserves extra attention on larger plots. Once a yard or drive is paved, rain that used to soak in runs across the surface instead, and it has to go somewhere. We set falls towards planted areas, a soakaway or an existing drain, so it does not end up against a wall, in a barn or on the neighbouring field. Our guide to compaction and falls explains the principle.
What should you check before work starts?
Three things, ideally before you ask for any quote. First, the town hall procedure: each municipality sets it in its ordinance, and works on rustic land may follow different rules, which the town hall can confirm for your plot. Second, what is under the area: pipes, a septic tank, a cistern or old foundations. Third, how a delivery lorry reaches the property and where it can unload.
Our permits and rules guide explains the Andalusian framework, and the checklist for choosing a paving contractor helps you compare offers from anyone, including local builders, on what each one actually includes.
It also helps to know whether you want to reuse anything. Old stone from a demolished wall, terracotta tiles from a previous patio or sound concrete blocks can sometimes find a new place as edging, steps or a path, which saves material and keeps some of the property's character.
How do you get a quote in Guadalteba?
Send us a photo and the approximate m² – free, no-obligation quote. Because Guadalteba is some distance from our Marbella base, we collect as much detail as possible first, then make one visit to measure and check levels. The quote proposes a continuous work period, and if neighbours in the same village want paving too, jobs can be scheduled together. Cost factors, including travel, are explained on what moves the cost of paving. Then contact us.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work in Campillos and Teba?
Yes. We cover all seven municipalities of Guadalteba: Almargen, Ardales, Campillos, Carratraca, Cañete la Real, Serrato and Teba. There are no dedicated town pages, but the service is the same as anywhere in the province.
Why is Serrato listed here and not under Ronda?
Serrato became its own municipality in 2014 after separating from Ronda. It is grouped with the Guadalteba comarca, so we list it here rather than in the Serranía de Ronda.
Is Sierra de Yeguas part of Guadalteba?
The Diputación de Málaga groups it with Guadalteba, but the Junta de Andalucía places it in the Antequera comarca, which is the list we follow. Either way, we work there.
Can you pave a yard used by farm vehicles?
Yes, but the build-up must be designed for those loads. Heavier vehicles need thicker pavers and a stronger base, often concrete. Tell us what vehicles use the yard so we can size it properly.
What is the cheapest sensible option for occasional parking on land?
Usually grass grids or gravel-filled grids on a free-draining base, or simply compacted gravel. They cost less than full paving and let rain soak into the ground. Exact figures are on our price site.
Can you lay stone in a village patio in Ardales?
Yes. Natural stone setts or slabs suit traditional patios. Where access is narrow or through the house, materials are carried in by hand truck and rubble taken out the same way.
Do you travel to Guadalteba for small jobs?
We do, though for very small areas travel becomes a larger share of the cost. Combining several areas of your property, or jobs with neighbours, makes a visit more worthwhile.
Is a permit needed for paving in these villages?
Each town hall sets the procedure in its own ordinance, and a quick enquiry there settles it for your job. Andalusia's LISTA law covers many minor works with a responsible declaration; rustic land may follow different rules.
Can I approve the job from abroad?
Yes. After a visit with you or a trusted contact, we send an itemised quote in English. You confirm by email, and we send photo updates until the work is finished.
Do you remove the old concrete from my yard?
Yes. Old concrete, paving and soil are taken to an authorised construction waste facility, and removal is shown as its own line in the quote so you can see what it costs.
