Serranía de Ronda

Paving contractors for Gaucín, Ronda and the Serranía

In shortThe Serranía de Ronda comarca has 24 inland municipalities, from Ronda itself to Gaucín, Arriate, Benaoján, Cortes de la Frontera, Montejaque and many smaller villages. We lay and replace block paving, natural stone setts and clay pavers throughout the comarca, travelling from our base in Marbella. Because distances are longer, we plan each job carefully so one visit and one continuous work period are enough.

Which municipalities belong to the Serranía de Ronda?

Twenty-four, all inland. In alphabetical order:

  • Algatocín, Alpandeire, Arriate, Atajate, Benadalid, Benalauría
  • Benaoján, Benarrabá, Cartajima, Cortes de la Frontera, Cuevas del Becerro, El Burgo
  • Faraján, Gaucín, Genalguacil, Igualeja, Jimera de Líbar, Jubrique
  • Júzcar, Montecorto, Montejaque, Parauta, Pujerra, Ronda

A few boundaries differ between sources. The Junta de Andalucía places Cuevas del Becerro and El Burgo here, while the Diputación de Málaga puts them in Guadalteba and the Sierra de las Nieves respectively; we follow the Junta. Montecorto became a municipality in 2014, separated from Ronda, and is listed here as well.

What paving work comes up in the Serranía?

Mostly two kinds of property, with very different needs. If your house is in a village such as Gaucín, Benaoján or Montejaque, the job is often a patio, an entrance or steps, reached by a narrow street. If it is a country house on land, the job may be a drive, a parking area and paths around the house, sometimes reached by a long track.

Steps deserve special mention if your house sits on a sloping street. A short flight of stone steps between a street and a front door, or between two levels of a patio, needs a firm foundation for each tread, consistent riser heights and a slight fall on each step so water runs off. We build them as part of the paving job when they connect paved areas.

How do we plan jobs at this distance?

With more preparation before the visit. We ask for photos of the area and of the access from the road, approximate measurements, and details about water, power and where a lorry can unload. One visit then confirms everything, and the quote sets out a continuous work period so the crew is not travelling back and forth.

If neighbours in the same village are thinking about paving too, it can make sense to schedule the jobs together. For village centres and protected buildings, ask the town hall whether rules apply to visible materials; the general framework is in our permits and rules guide.

Weather is the one thing we cannot plan months ahead. Bedding and jointing need dry conditions, so if heavy rain is forecast for the work period we tell you as early as possible and agree whether to start a little later rather than lay pavers on a wet bed.

Where can you find more?

Our Ronda page explains in detail how we organise jobs in the comarca's main town. For laying choices, the guide to laying patterns and the materials comparison apply anywhere. Cost factors, including travel, are on what moves the cost of paving. There are no sister-site pages for this comarca at present; the same contractor handles repairs and renovations here on request. Frequently asked questions

Do you work in Gaucín?

Yes. Gaucín is one of the 24 municipalities of the Serranía de Ronda, all within our working area. Send photos of the area and the access, and we will plan the visit from our base in Marbella.

Which villages of the Serranía do you cover?

All 24, from Ronda, Arriate and Montejaque to the smaller villages such as Atajate, Benadalid, Júzcar, Pujerra and Genalguacil. Villages without their own page here are served the same way.

Why is Cuevas del Becerro listed in the Serranía?

The Junta de Andalucía places Cuevas del Becerro in the Serranía de Ronda, while the Diputación de Málaga groups it with Guadalteba. We follow the Junta for this municipality.

Is Montecorto part of Ronda?

Not any more. Montecorto became a separate municipality in 2014, segregated from Ronda, and is now listed as its own municipality within the Serranía de Ronda comarca.

Can you lay stone steps and a patio in a village house in Gaucín?

Yes. Natural stone suits steps and patios in traditional houses. Where access is narrow, materials are moved by hand truck from the nearest unloading point and rubble is taken out the same way.

Does travel to the Serranía make the job more expensive?

Travel is one cost factor among several, alongside area, access, existing surface and material. Planning one continuous work period and grouping deliveries keeps it as small a share as possible.

Can you pave a long track to a country house?

Yes, though paving the whole length is not always sensible. Paving the final stretch near the house, or laying wheel tracks with gravel between them, is often a better use of budget on a long access.

Are there rules on paving materials in village centres?

Some town halls set requirements for visible materials, especially in historic centres or protected buildings. Ask the town hall of your village before choosing.

Can I organise the work from abroad?

Yes. Photos and measurements give a first estimate; a visit with you or a trusted contact confirms it, and we send an itemised quote in English and photo updates throughout.

Is there a sister site for sunken paving in the Serranía?

Not with a dedicated page, but the same contractor runs the sunken paver repair site. Send us photos of the dips and we will advise whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense.
