Why does access shape a paving job in Casares?
Because materials arrive by lorry and the base is compacted with machines, the route to your property decides how the work is organised. Casares has a coastal part, Casares Costa, and inland areas such as Secadero, so the access to one house may be a wide residential road and to another a narrow lane or a steep drive.
On the first contact we therefore ask a few practical questions rather than talk about colours straight away.
- Can a lorry with a crane reach the gate, or do pallets have to be moved by hand truck from the road?
- Is there space on the plot to store pavers, gravel and bags without blocking a neighbour?
- Where can a skip or a vehicle for rubble stand while the old surface comes up?
- Are there steps, tight corners or a low arch on the way to the area being paved?
Photos taken from the street towards the property answer most of these at once, and they let us plan the right size of compactor and the number of trips before the visit.
Which materials do owners in Casares usually consider?
There is no single local answer; it depends on the house and how the area is used. If your property is a traditional village-style house, natural stone or clay often suits it better than grey concrete. A modern villa near the coast may look cleaner with large-format concrete pavers in a uniform tone.
We explain the practical differences on our pages for natural stone setts and slabs and clay pavers. Crazy paving in irregular stone, as in the photo above, takes more cutting and fitting than rectangular blocks, which is reflected in the labour part of a quote. For the build-up underneath any of them, see the guide to layers and base.
What happens with permits and neighbours?
Whether your job in Casares needs a responsible declaration, a licence or nothing at all is set by the current municipal ordinance, which the town hall can confirm. If the work affects the public pavement or a dropped kerb for a vehicle entrance, a separate municipal authorisation is required. Our permits and rules guide goes through the general framework in Andalusia.
Neighbours are a practical matter too. If a delivery has to stand in a shared lane for a while, or the compactor will run close to a boundary wall, it helps to let the people next door know in advance. We can give you a short note in Spanish explaining what will happen and roughly where materials will be stored.
Who else in our network works in Casares?
All our websites belong to one self-employed contractor based in Marbella, so you can mix services in one visit. For a pool deck or garden terrace, see terraces and pools in Casares. If an existing concrete or paved surface is sound but tired, surface renovation in Casares restores it without lifting anything. Cost factors and reference prices are on our paving prices page, and the Costa del Sol Occidental hub lists the neighbouring towns. Frequently asked questions
Do you work in both Casares Costa and the inland parts of Casares?
Yes. We cover the whole municipality, including Casares Costa and Secadero. The only thing that changes from one address to another is the logistics: how materials are delivered and which machines fit through the access.
What if a lorry cannot reach my house?
Then materials are unloaded at the nearest suitable point and moved with hand trucks or a small dumper. It takes more labour, which we include in the quote, but it does not prevent the job. Photos of the access help us estimate it properly.
Is natural stone harder to lay than concrete pavers?
Natural stone pieces vary in thickness and shape, so each one needs more adjusting on the bedding, and irregular crazy paving needs careful cutting. The result can be very attractive, but the labour is greater than with uniform concrete blocks.
Can clay pavers be used for a driveway in Casares?
Clay pavers made for vehicle traffic can, as long as the base beneath them is designed for cars and the edges are restrained. Thinner clay pieces intended for patios should stay on pedestrian areas.
How do you avoid damaging the neighbour's wall or garden?
We agree storage and access points before starting, protect walls along the delivery route where needed and keep compaction vibration in mind near fragile structures. If something looks delicate on the visit, we raise it with you first.
Do I need to be in Casares for the site visit?
Not necessarily. Someone with keys, such as a neighbour, gardener or property manager, can open up while we measure. We send you the photos and notes from the visit so you can decide from wherever you are.
Can you lay paving on soil that has never been paved?
Yes, that is a normal starting point. We remove topsoil and organic material, build and compact a granular base, add a concrete base where the use calls for it, then the bedding layer and the pavers.
Will you take away the old concrete from my patio?
Yes. Lifted concrete and rubble are taken to an authorised waste facility, and the removal is priced as its own item. Construction waste rules in Spain are set by Royal Decree 105/2008 and Law 7/2022.
Is a permit required to repave my plot in Casares?
That depends on Casares' current ordinance, which decides whether a responsible declaration, a licence or nothing applies. We recommend checking before the start date, especially if the job reaches the street.
Can you combine paving with a terrace renovation?
Yes. Because all our sites are run by the same contractor, a new driveway and the refurbishment of a terrace or pool area can be quoted together and planned as one job.
