Where in Manilva do we work?
Everywhere in the municipality. Manilva is where the Senda Litoral, the coastal path that crosses all the seaside municipalities of the province, begins at its western end, and it includes San Luis de Sabinillas, Castillo de la Duquesa, Puerto de la Duquesa, La Chullera and Alcorrín. We travel from our base in Marbella and plan each job around the access to the specific property.
The kind of job varies with the property. A townhouse may only need a new entrance and a strip to the bins; a detached villa with a garden often needs a drive, a turning space and a path to the pool. Tell us how the outdoor space is used – how many cars, whether a boat trailer or a motorhome parks there, where the bins stand – and we will suggest where hard paving makes sense and where it does not.
How do you manage paving at a holiday home?
Simply put, you do not have to be there. If you only use the house for part of the year, the whole job can be organised around your absence.
- You send photos and approximate m², and tell us who holds the keys.
- We visit with the key holder, measure and photograph the area, and send you a written quote in English.
- Once you accept, we agree start dates that do not clash with your stays or with rentals.
- During the job you receive photos at each stage; at the end, the key holder checks the result with us.
- You get a final set of pictures and a short note on how to look after the new surface.
If your home is in a community of owners, tell the administrator before work begins on any shared area, as the owners' meeting must approve it under the Horizontal Property Law.
When are grass grids or permeable paving the better choice?
When you want to park on part of the garden without sealing it, or when rainwater has nowhere to go. A grass grid, like the one in the photo, is a concrete block with open cells filled with soil and grass or with gravel; wheels run on the concrete, water soaks through the openings.
Permeable pavers do a similar job with a closed, tidy surface and open joints. Both need a base designed to let water through, which is different from a standard sealed build-up. Our page on permeable paving and grass grids compares them, and the compaction and falls guide explains how water is handled on conventional paving.
For an ordinary hard driveway, concrete block paving remains the most common option, with kerbs and edging holding the edges in place.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work in Sabinillas and Duquesa?
Yes. San Luis de Sabinillas, Castillo de la Duquesa and Puerto de la Duquesa are all part of Manilva and within our area, as are La Chullera and Alcorrín. We plan every visit around the specific property's access.
Can my key holder deal with you while I stay at home abroad?
Yes. Many owners do exactly that. The key holder opens the property for the visit and the work, while you receive the quote, questions and photo updates directly from us in English.
Can we avoid doing the work while the house is rented out?
Yes. Tell us the dates when the property is occupied and we will schedule around them. Paving work is noisy at times and the area is closed while bedding and joints settle, so empty periods are best.
What is the difference between a grass grid and permeable paving?
A grass grid has large open cells filled with soil or gravel and looks mostly green or stony. Permeable paving looks like ordinary pavers but lets water pass through wider joints or a porous body. Both need a free-draining base.
Will grass grow well in a grass grid?
Grass needs soil, water and light to establish in the cells, and frequent parking in one spot can wear it. Where irrigation or sun is limited, filling the cells with gravel gives a tidy, permeable surface instead.
Can a car park on permeable paving?
Yes, provided the units are made for vehicle traffic and the base beneath them is built for cars as well as for drainage. We size both according to how the area will be used.
Is a permit needed for paving in Manilva?
The procedure depends on Manilva's current ordinance, which the town hall can confirm. Many minor private works are handled with a responsible declaration under Andalusia's LISTA law; work on the street or a dropped kerb needs its own authorisation.
Do you remove the old paving and rubble?
Yes. Old slabs, concrete and excavated soil are taken to an authorised facility. We list removal separately in the quote so you can see how much of the cost is waste handling.
How do I look after new block paving at a house I rarely visit?
Mainly by keeping joints filled and weeds out. Your key holder can sweep in jointing sand where it has washed out and pull any weeds early. A periodic gentle wash keeps the surface clean.
Can you also renew our pool surround?
Yes. Pool surrounds and terraces are handled through our sister terraces site, run by the same contractor, so one visit can cover the driveway and the pool area.
