What changes when a plot in Mijas is on a slope?
On a sloping plot, pavers want to creep downhill and water runs fast across the surface. My drive is steep. Will pavers slide down over time?
They can if the base is weak or the edges are not restrained. A properly compacted base, firm kerbs and, on long runs, cross restraints keep the blocks in place. Joint filling must also be kept topped up.
Which paver gives better grip on a sloping drive?
A textured or tumbled concrete block, or a natural stone sett with a rough face, grips better than a smooth polished finish. Many owners also choose a pattern with more joints, which adds grip for tyres and shoes.
Should a steep path have steps instead of a slope?
Often, yes. When a path is too steep to walk comfortably, a series of short ramps with level landings or proper steps is safer and lasts longer. We suggest a layout once we have measured the fall.
Where does the rainwater go on a sloping drive?
We lead it into a channel drain across the drive, a gully at the low point or a planted area that can absorb it. The important thing is that water does not run onto the house, the garage or the neighbour's plot.
Can you work inside a gated golf development?
Yes. Let us know the community's rules for contractors, such as registered vehicles, gate procedure or working hours, and we will plan deliveries and noisy phases accordingly.
Does the community need to approve paving on my own plot?
A private drive inside your plot is normally your decision, though some communities set rules on materials or colours visible from shared areas. Shared roads and paths always need the owners' meeting to agree.
Can you replace old crazy paving with something more even?
Yes. We lift the old stone, rebuild the base and lay a more regular surface such as concrete blocks or sawn stone. Sound stone pieces can sometimes be reused elsewhere in the garden.
Is permission needed to repave in Mijas?
That depends on Mijas' current ordinance and on whether the job touches the public road, so it is worth asking the town hall first. Many private minor works in Andalusia are covered by a responsible declaration under the LISTA law.
