Paving across the Valle del Guadalhorce

In shortThe Valle del Guadalhorce, an inland comarca of Málaga province, groups eight municipalities: Alhaurín de la Torre, Alhaurín el Grande, Almogía, Álora, Cártama, Coín, Pizarra and Valle de Abdalajís. We lay new block paving, natural stone and grass grids, set kerbs and replace failed surfaces in all of them, for village houses, residential estates and country properties alike.

Which municipalities are in the Valle del Guadalhorce?

Eight, all inland. In alphabetical order, with links where we have a dedicated page:

  • Alhaurín de la Torre – repair, renovate or replace
  • Alhaurín el Grande – where paving fits a plot and where it does not
  • Almogía
  • Álora
  • Cártama – including Estación de Cártama, Estación de Aljaima and Gibralgalía
  • Coín – how a job runs, step by step
  • Pizarra
  • Valle de Abdalajís

Municipalities without their own page here are served in exactly the same way. Tell us the address and send a few photos, and we plan the visit from our base in Marbella.

What kind of paving work is typical in the valley?

It depends on the property, and the valley has a wide mix. If your house is in the centre of Álora or Pizarra, the job may be a patio or a courtyard reached through the house. If it is in a residential estate, perhaps a drive and paths. If it is a country property, the question is often how much to pave at all.

For larger plots, we often suggest combining hard and permeable surfaces: concrete block paving where cars park every day, permeable paving and grass grids for occasional parking, and gravel or planting elsewhere. Firm kerbs and edge restraint keep each zone tidy where paving meets soil.

Natural materials have a place here too. Around a traditional farmhouse or a village courtyard, natural stone setts and slabs or clay pavers tend to sit more comfortably than grey concrete, and they can be combined: a stone path leading to a concrete block parking area, with matching kerbs where the two meet.

On rustic land, the procedure for works can differ from that in an urban area. The town hall concerned can confirm which applies to your plot before starting; our permits and rules guide sets out the general framework.

Which sister pages exist for this comarca?

All belong to the same self-employed contractor. Sunken paver repair: Alhaurín de la Torre, Coín. Driveways and parking: Alhaurín de la Torre, Cártama, Coín. Surface renovation: Alhaurín de la Torre, Alhaurín el Grande, Cártama, Coín.

If you are in Cártama and want a new drive, the driveway site's Cártama page is the most specific; for any other paving, including courtyards and paths in stone or clay, contact us here.

How do you start a paving job in the valley?

A few details in your first message save time later: whether the house is occupied, whether there is water and electricity on site, where a lorry could unload, and whether any old surface, septic tank or buried pipe lies in the area. With that, our first estimate is much closer to the final quote.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work in Álora, Pizarra and Cártama?

Yes. We cover all eight municipalities of the Valle del Guadalhorce, including Álora, Pizarra, Cártama, Almogía and Valle de Abdalajís, as well as Coín and the two Alhaurínes, which have their own pages.

Do you cover Estación de Cártama and Gibralgalía?

Yes. Estación de Cártama, Estación de Aljaima and Gibralgalía are part of the municipality of Cártama and fully within our working area.

Is the Valle del Guadalhorce on the coast?

No. None of its eight municipalities is among those on the Málaga coastline, so the whole comarca is inland. That mainly affects the kind of property we see and how we plan travel from Marbella.

Should I pave my whole country plot?

Usually not. Paving where cars park and people walk daily, and using grass grids or gravel elsewhere, keeps the ground permeable and the cost reasonable. We suggest a layout after seeing the plot.

Can you pave a courtyard in a village house in Álora?

Yes. Where access is only through the house, we protect the route, bring materials in by hand truck and take rubble out the same way. Natural stone or clay often suits a traditional courtyard.

Which site should I contact for a new driveway in Cártama?

Our driveway site has a dedicated Cártama page, but every site reaches the same contractor. Contacting us here is equally fine, especially if the job includes paths or courtyards too.

Do you take on jobs in Almogía and Valle de Abdalajís?

Yes. They do not have their own page on this site, but we work there in exactly the same way: photos and measurements first, a visit, then an itemised written quote.

Is a permit needed for paving on rustic land?

Works on non-urban land may follow different rules from those in a town. Ask the relevant town hall which procedure applies before starting. For many minor works, Andalusia's LISTA law provides a responsible declaration.

How do grass grids hold up to cars?

Grids made for vehicle traffic, on a base built for cars and drainage, carry normal domestic parking. Grass in the cells may wear where cars stand daily, which is why gravel filling is often chosen for those spots.

Can you quote if I am not in Spain?

Yes. Send photos and approximate m², and we will reply with questions and a first estimate. A visit with you or a trusted contact confirms it before the final quote in English.
